Congratulations to Castlerock Biofuels, the Town of Millinocket, One North, and Our Katahdin for their partnership in siting a new state-of-the-art renewable fuel facility at the One North industrial park, situated at the former Great Northern Paper (GNP) Mill property in Millinocket, Maine.
SME’s Role: SME is proud to provide civil engineering, Brownfields consulting services, and environmental permitting for this transformative project which promises to bring jobs, investment, and new technologies to northern Maine.
The Renewable Fuel Facility: Castlerock Biofuels has chosen One North in Millinocket as the site for a state-of-the-art renewable fuel oil facility. The facility represents a significant advancement in clean energy and community revitalization. Utilizing pyrolysis, an advanced thermal processing technology, the facility will convert renewable logging residue into up to 20 million gallons of Fast Pyrolysis Bio-Oil (RFO) annually. This innovative process not only supports sustainable energy production but also contributes to the economic growth of the region.
