Civil Engineer
Kate Tilas
Kate joined SME in 2020, bringing expertise in site, drainage, and utility design, and permitting at the local, state, and federal levels. Her background encompasses civil engineering in municipal water resources projects to design and maintain stormwater and sewer infrastructure such as culverts, pump stations, and shoreline stabilization. Kate is experienced in permitting at all levels, including Natural Resources Protection Act (NRPA) and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) requirements. She is certified as a Local Project Administrator by the Maine Department of Transportation.
She excels in being able to see the big picture and creating strong solutions for challenging scenarios.
Kate has bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering from Wentworth Institute of Technology.
Outside of work, she enjoys traveling and exploring the outdoors on skis, in boots, or on a bike with her family and dog. When she is not out exploring, she spends her time reading, knitting, sewing, and playing ball with her dog on the farm.
