Ron Lessard
Ron joined SME in 2024. He is a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) and Certified Safety Professional (CSP) with over 35 years of specialized professional experience solving complex environmental health and safety (EHS) challenges.
Ron’s extensive experience in the heavy industry and manufacturing sectors includes developing and implementing strategies that have significantly reduced occupational injury and illness rates, obtaining and maintaining ISO 14001 and 45001 management system certifications, and improving the efficiency and effectiveness of EHS operations. Ron has experience developing and implementing global sustainability initiatives with a multinational corporation. This work includes developing methods to measure and track global greenhouse gas emissions and achieving reductions in these emissions.
As a board-certified CIH and CSP, Ron combines his advanced technical training and in-depth expertise to guide companies in achieving safer and more productive work environments that result in improved employee protection and return on investment.
He has a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from the University of Maine.
Ron enjoys skiing, mountain biking, and general outdoor fun with family and friends. He is passionate about the mission of Oasis Free Clinics, a non-profit, no-cost primary care medical practice and dental clinic in Brunswick, Maine, and he volunteers on their Board of Directors.
