Travis Carpenter

Travis joined SME in 2024. He brings 30 years of geotechnical engineering experience on projects involving new site development, environmental remediation and brownfields redevelopment, landfills and low-permeability cover systems, and embankment dam rehabilitation.

Travis has extensive experience with shallow foundations, ground improvements, retaining walls, embankment stability and seepage analyses, helical piles, soil anchors, scour protection and bank stabilization, flexible pavement, subsurface investigations, instrumentation and monitoring, geosynthetics, and earthwork construction.

He has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and is a Maine licensed Professional Engineer.

Travis lives in Wells, where he has enjoyed coaching youth baseball, softball, basketball, and soccer for more than a decade. In his free time, Travis loves to head north to the Moosehead Lake Region and/or the North Maine Woods for some fishing, camping, hiking, or hunting with family and friends.
