Derek Rancourt

Derek joined SME in 2024 and brings over 15 years of expertise in civil and structural engineering. As a licensed Professional Engineer, he specializes in structural design and construction support, with a deep focus on the utility sector. Derek’s extensive experience spans a variety of projects, with particular expertise in the design and implementation of substation superstructures and foundations.

He has served as an Owner’s Engineer (OE) on numerous substation projects, providing leadership and oversight from design through project completion. Derek is also highly skilled in the analysis, design, and inspection of steel structures and foundations, offering a comprehensive approach to project delivery and execution.

Derek holds both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Maine.

Outside of work, Derek enjoys outdoor activities such as skiing, golfing, and kayaking, and values quality time spent with family and friends.
