Bob Walker

Bob Walker joined SME in 2022 with SME’s acquisition of Chicago-based firm, Bono Consulting Civil Engineers. In 2026, Bob was named Principal to the SME ownership team and became Director of Engineering – Illinois where he manages all day-to-day activities of the Chicago office including preparing proposals, managing staff, reviewing projects, and providing technical guidance on complex projects.

Bob is a project manager with over 25 years of experience managing the planning, design, and construction of educational, institutional, industrial, commercial, solar, and residential projects. As a LEED Accredited Professional, he understands green building concepts and the implementation in the site design. He is experienced in land development and stormwater management and specializes in complicated sites with limited available space for stormwater management and complicated drainage and stormwater problems.

In his free time, Bob is an avid hunter and outdoorsman, and a big Iowa State Cyclone fan.
